Best Comedy Duos of Hollywood

Comedy There are various factors that make a comedy movie memorable and eventually the onus lies in the hands of the actors. There could be just one actor in a movie sitting in one room throughout the movie, but if he is entertaining, you will find the movie good. Sometimes, a comedy movie contains two actors that complement each other’s performance. The movie can be based upon the opposite personalities of each other or simply the fight between two. Whatever is the course of action, a good comedy duo makes a memorable movie. Here, we look at some of the best comedy duos of Hollywood.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

From hosting hilarious gigs to ground-breaking television shows, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have ensured that comedy is longer a male-dominated business. After becoming friends in the early 90s, the hilarious duo became the first female co-anchor on Saturday Night Live on its Weekend Update Segment. This success paved their way to now-famous skits and cult-favorite films. The first among their performance, Baby Mama in 2008 reinforced the Fey-Poehler comedy formula.

Seth Rogen and James Franco

There’s is something unique about Seth Rogen and James Franco. Ever since their success on favorite TV series Freaks & Geeks, the duo has emerged as raucous party boys of Hollywood. This genre has sailed them through viral videos and spirited comedy alike. Though this helped them to establish themselves as successful comedian artists, things didn’t flourish properly until Pineapple Express in 2008.

Laurel and Hardy

Laurel and Hardy were a comedy duo that acted during the early classical era of Hollywood. The duo comprised of thin Englishmen Stan Laurel and hefty American Oliver Hardy. They became famous during the late 1920s till the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy. Laurel always played the careless childhood friend of pompous Hardy. The signature tune of the duo is known as ‘The Cuckoo Song’ or ‘The Dance of the Cuckoos’. It was played during credits in their films and has become an emblematic of the duo as their bowler hats.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly

A moment of silence for the duo that made ‘nonsense’ a verbal celebration. John C. Reilly, the noted actor, and Will Ferrell, the emperor of idiocy, have come together on several occasions to present a comedy that is utterly illogical and understandable to only a dumb teenager. Some of their memorable work includes The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), the opening scenes of Talladega Nights, Shake-N-Bake, Baby Jesus, and spider monkeys.

Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson

As the founding members of Frat Pack, Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller sport a weirdness that makes them inseparable for a perfect comedy recipe. None of them sports an atypical comedy type. Both of them bypass the witty, physically extreme, outlandish, or abusive comedy and instead focus upon ‘comedy for the commoners’ kind of humor. Of course, there is no substitute for the comedy of their genre and work like Zoolander and Starsky And Hutch (2004) cannot be missed as an alternative to some other comedy formula.
