Self-made, Bold, Confident and Swashbuckling. These are some of the words that perfectly defines Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut. She is someone who has dugged deep and made her own path. Just a teenager when she came to Mumbai, she has gone from a girl to a woman in the city. Her career till now has been no short of controversies. Due to her outspoken nature, there have been times when she has got herself landed in controversy.
But that’s Kangana Ranaut for you! She has spoken against many topics on which actors don’t speak, it includes gender equality and nepotism.
Born in the mystique state of Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut moved to Mumbai at the meager age of 16 to pursue a career in Modelling. Then in 2006, she went on to make her debut in the film “Gangster”. Starring alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja, the film was a success at the box office and Kangana had announced herself with a bang to the Industry. Since then Kangana has gone onto doing some monumental hits. Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns were the biggest hits she delivered. Her acting and portrayal of her character were immensely praised by everyone. She was the soul and heart in both parts.
In 2014, she acted in Vikas Bahl’s Directed “Queen”. The film was a monumental hit and went on to establish Kangana Ranaut in the Industry. Kangana broke all the stereotypes attached to the release of any film and was lauded for her efforts. She went on to win her 1st National Award for the Queen. She won the 2nd one in 2015 for Tanu Weds Manu Returns. Recently, she starred in ‘Manikarnika’. The film is a biopic of the Indian freedom fighter “Rani of Jhansi”. Again, she was appreciated for her fierce portrayal of her character.
In 2016, Hrithik Roshan filed a case against her for cyberstalking. The case took an entirely different turn and was dragged on for quite a long time. This has been one of her most controversial moments until now.
Kangana Ranaut has never shied away from telling how many difficulties she had to face to get where she is at present. Despite all of this she is one of the top actresses of Bollywood. She has featured in five times in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 List. She has also launched own clothing line “Vero Moda” as well. Winner of national 3 times, 1 for supporting actress and 2 for the female lead, she is also one of the most accomplished actresses as well.
The key to her being called one of the best is also her versatility. While on the one hand, she has portrayed the “happy go lucky girl” in Tanu Weds Manu, she has also portrayed mentally challenging characters in films like Fashion, Woh Lamhe, and Life in a Metro. She has never backed down from taking on a challenge and this is one of the primary reasons why she is where she is right now.
